Tigers beat Chicago and Texas on the Road.. home again.

The Tigers won 2 series in a row on the road beating the Chicago White Sox 2 of 3 and the Texas Rangers 2 of 3.  The Tigers have now won 8 of their last 10 and host the hot Seattle Mariners for a 4 game series in Comerica Park this weekend followed by a makeup game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.  After the Rays game the Tigers fate is in their own hands when they host the 1st place Cleveland Indians for a 3 game series starting June 14th before hitting the road again for inter-league play against the Rockies and Dodgers.  The following weekend Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammell return to Detroit when the Arizona Diamondbacks come to town for a series ending with the Sparky Anderson Number Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, June 26th.

The Tigers have been hitting well and pitching well in the 8 of 10 win streak.  See the Regular Season page for current numbers.  Also take a look at the Hitter Trends page.   Brennan Boesch is getting his swing back (5 of 6 in a game against Texas), and Danny Worth is hitting .429 at this point in his fill-in role at the infield positions while Brandon Inge is out sick.  Andy Dirks is starting to slip in the hitting department but did hit his 3rd home run against the Rangers in only 50 at-bats.  The Pitcher Trends page is updated as well.   Adam Wilk and Charlie Furbush continue to throw good innings out of the bullpen, and Phil Coke made a very rocky return from the DL in the recent loss to the Rangers.

That's it for a mid-week update.  Stay tuned this weekend for a full review and another look at former Tiger players including Matt Joyce for the first time. (Is his hitting for real, or just because he never faces left-handed pitching?)

GO TIGERS!    ---Rob
